This is
the tricky bit! Most of us have school French that has
lain idle in the some quartile for years. We have been
to France on a short holiday, and just about mastered
getting served in the Boulangerie
and
ordered a steak/frites.
There are many Estate Agencies that will speak variable
levels of English and certainly Private Sellers speak
little or no English.
If you are going to use your home as a holiday home,
you could do worse than get quite a good level of
French i n order to deal with Bureaucracy , Tax
Offices, Post Offices and the like. If you are buying a
Primary Home, French is a MUST! Its all too easy to
become an Ex-pat and hide away in the safety of your
enclave. You will really miss out on a huge amount that
France has to offer- and only enjoy 50% of what this
great Country has to offer.
